24 Hours in Bodrum
9:00 am:
Start on your tour of discovery through the ancient city of Halicarnassos with a
fresh breakfast buffet in our Sera Restaurant. Due to its excellent location, the
Hotel Karia Princess is the perfect starting point for a walk through the city.
10:00 am:
Head out to the Mausolleion; one of the 7 wonders of the world in Antiquity, which
contains the remains of the tomb of King Mausolos commissioned by his wife Artemisia,
on Tepecik Camii street. Although there is not much left from it, the ruins are
scattered around the area and it is easy to find more in the gardens of some locals.
10:30 am:
Continue along the same street for 100m and after you pass the Tepecik mosque on
your right, you shall find the oldest sandal shop famous for its’ custom-made replications
of ancient Greek sandals, as well as the Bodrum sandals; dark brown leather thongs
decorated with glass “evil eye” beads. You can either watch the owner make them
over tea in his tiny ‘atelier’ or order your own pair.
11:00 am:
Head back to the seaside from Hamam Street and keep going East. You will walk along
the harbor filled with countless boats of various sizes, passing by the fish market,
the cafes and the souvenir shops until you reach the famous St. Peter’s Castle which
is also the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archeology. Built by the Knights Hospitaller
in 1402 on the probable site of King Mausolos’s palace, it contains a vast collection
of amphoras, ancient glass, bronze, clay and iron items excavated underwater from
the sites of many ancient shipwrecks in the Aegean Sea.
1:00 pm:
It’s time for lunch and you could either; sit back and relax at one of the little
fish restaurants or cafes around the bazaar, or head back to the harbor by cab for
the cheapest but most famous pizza place in town; Sünger.
2:00 pm:
If it’s a Tuesday or a Friday, we would suggest paying a visit to the open air market
which sells various textiles or fruits& vegetables depending on the day, located
right next to the bus station called ‘otogar’. If not, instead you could choose
to lounge by the pool bar at the Karia Princess and take a dip in our refreshing
pool.
5:00 pm:
Why not take a taxi or walk up the hill to the Carian amphitheatre? Overlooking
St. Peter’s castle and the Bodrum harbor, it was built in the Hellenistic age (330
– 30BC) with seating for approximately 13,000.This theatre is one of the oldest
in Asia Minor and dates back to the time of Mausollos.
6:00 pm:
It is time for an afternoon drink made with the famous Bodrum satsuma! On the monastery
hill, there are a few bars with some of the best views of the city. Watching the
sun set over the whole city with its’ ancient castle and countless boats cruising
on the infinite blue, the twinkling lights of the Datcha strait and the Greek island
of Kos further away, you can marvel at the beauty of this city that has been a home
to many different civilizations.
7:30 pm:
Delicious open buffet or a la carte dinner is served at our Sera restaurant whether
you wish to dine in the romantic outdoor seating area by the pool or the cool, air
conditioned marble hall with soft music and peaceful atmosphere.
9:00 pm:
Bodrum nightlife is just starting and you may either; enjoy several concerts that
are taking place in the area, take a walk to the harbor for dancing the night away
under the stars at one of the open-air night clubs or visit the famous “Bars Street”.
12:00 am:
Our pool and lobby bars are ready to welcome you 24 hours for a relaxing tea or
end-of-day coffee with soothing music.
